here’s the scoop on lady noir!

Category: Uncategorizedakio @ 3:36 pm

Our list of brands is in its infancy stage, but we think you should know all about the brands we carry! In honor of the beautiful city that we call home lets look at one of our San Francisco based brands first.

Lady Noir
San Francisco based, Lady Noir is dedicated to making apparel for today’s fashion forward femme. Obviously they offer a quality line of fresh hoodies, but did you know they donate proceeds of their sales to a nonprofit organization? Lady Noir donates to MADRE, which is an international organization based in New York that promotes rights, resources, and results for women! We acknowledge you Lady Noir for giving back to women around the world. For more information visit www.madre.org

With influences drawn from classic noir films, mod era fashion, old school comic books, and good ol’ rock n roll, Lady Noir has brought forth a line of wares that vibe with a harmonious mesh of retro classiness and modern day edge. They have a guy line called ‘Alpha Male” too. Men can expect a slightly fitted, classically cut, modern version of your most treasured vintage gear. Lady Noir is a unique, thoughtful, and creative brand that will separate you from everybody else.

its a hoodie celebration

Category: company news, startupHasan Luongo @ 5:06 pm

Ladies, gentlemen, and hoodie people across the world, it is with great pleasure that I officially announce the launch of hoodiepeople.com, a great place for fresh hoodies online.  Over the last three months of hard work this idea has evolved into something real.  hoodiepeople.com is rooted in the social web and aims to be much more than an online store; our goal is to be the source and destination for hoodies and the people who love them.

Our mission is to provide customers with fresh hoodies that bring warmth, comfort and style for years to come, while continually discovering and promoting new styles to keep you looking good.

hoodiepeople

Shopping online has been a major part of the web since the early days, but lately the web has become a much more fun and social experience, where ideas, news, and even hoodies, spread quickly around the world through social connections.  The three founders, Hasan, Akio, and Aaron grew up and went to school together in the San Francisco Bay Area and share a common interest in fashion, culture, business, and the social web.  This company, too, got started from a simple comment between friends which and has since taken on a life of its own.  Many other friends, new and old, have contributed their encouragement, expertise, and time to make this all come together.  Our thanks go out to our families, friends, and partners around the world that have helped us.

Being a Bay Area based company, the current brand selection partners reflect the eclectic and divergent styles that flourish and define this unique region.  We proudly feature hoodies from the legendary urban artist collective Upper Playground, and local SF based Lady Noir, which offers mod-inspired designs with a splash of sexy.  Looking beyond the Bay, hoodiepeople has partnered with San Diego based Jedidiah Clothing to lead our surf category.  Jedidiah is a company rooted in love, with a deeply inspiring mission and record of taking direct action to help others.  The inspiration we draw from really cool hoodies is elevated to the next level by the people, companies, and community with which we are able to represent and be a part of.

Over the next months and years we will continue along our path of building our small startup into a world class business.  We are anxious to get your feedback and welcome all ideas and suggestions.  If you would like to connect, please drop us a line at team@hoodiepeople.com.

bullet proof hoodies keep you safe

The £300 “Defender” top will stop Magnum handgun bullets, according to the manufacturer Bladerunner, which also makes slash-proof vests.

Owner Barry Samms denied the hoodie was targeted at teenage gang members and said it was primarily aimed at US customers concerned about gun violence.

Mothers Against Murder and Aggression said it spread “the fear factor”.

Lyn Costello, founder of the campaign group also known as Mamaa, said it sent out the wrong message.

“I don’t think it helps. It spreads the fear factor and makes teenagers think they are invincible.

“It disgusts me that companies think about money rather than the safety of our kids.

“We want to encourage them away from a life of violence not towards it.”

A total of 11 teenagers have died as a result of violent crime in London since the start of the year.

Thinner material

The top is made from a fibre called Dyneema, which is thinner than the material used to make traditional bullet-proof vests.

Mr Samms, who owns the Romford firm, said he could only manufacture a hoodie because it was not possible to put a zip into bullet-proof material.

He said: “Adults wear hoodies too. My mum wears one and you don’t see her hanging out on street corners.

“We really thought last year when we brought out the stab-proof top that they were going to be for teenagers, yet they are the last people to actually buy one.”

He said a mother from Walthamstow, east London, whose son had been mugged three times, was among customers asking for bullet-proof clothing.

“We’ve had quite a lot of interest from the US and a couple of calls from the UK,” he said.

“I don’t see that there is much of a market in the UK, because luckily we have such strict gun laws.

“People don’t have to go to such extremes to protect themselves over here.”
